What is 100 K on the Celsius scale? Explain why a ceramic bowl will keep oatmeal hot longer than a stainless steel bowl. Celsius = K + 273; 100K = -173C
Ceramic has a lower conductivity coefficient – it does not conduct heat as well as steel, so heat will transfer out through steel faster
It is easier to change the temperature of steam (gas phase water) than liquid water (lower specific heat) because the density of molecules (molecules per given volume) is lower in the gas phase.
When you mix hot and cold water you have conduction – heat transfer between things that touch, and convection, hot moves up through cold, cold sinks through warm creating mixing.
